Steel Roof Trusses

Galvanized steel structural roof trusses and components offer extended roof longevity and product consistency.

The manufacturing process tolerates zero room for error which means that members can be precisely reproduced when required.

  • Members are CNC cut and intersecting member positions are pre-punched.

  • The material is lightweight and can easily be transported and erected.

  • Various coating options are available that provide weather and pest resistant products.

  • All components are prefabricated and can be transported “flat pack” for economical delivery and storage.

  • Economic design translates to steel products that can compete with the cost of timber structures.

Ceilings & Bulkheads

Structural solutions for aesthetic applications.

Light gauge steel bulkheads are designed to combine the versatility of standard stud and runner configurations with the load bearing capacity of light gauge steel supporting frames.

Lightweight Floors

We provide load bearing floor options to cater for commercial and industrial applications.

The advantage of using the light gauge steel system is that it maintains load bearing capacity at a significantly reduced self-weight when compared to timber and concrete alternatives.

On average the self-weight of this type of flooring system is approximately 25kg/m² including boarding. Design capability is dependent on load and span requirements. We have installed floors like these at unsupported spans of 8m.

Steel & Timber Roofing

In an ever-changing construction market, we believe that there are applications that suit the need for both timber and steel products.

Both products have their respective advantages. We’ll outline these and clear a few misconceptions.

Steel framing advantages

  • CNC roll formed and tooled to within 0.39mm tolerance.

  • Can be delivered pre-assembled or “flat- pack” for assembly on site.

  • Reduced self-weight, Light gauge steel members weigh 55% of the equivalent timber members.

  • Galvanized products can last up to 40 years depending on the level of exposure. Aluminum-zinc coated steel can extend that by up to four times.

  • Steel is non-combustible.

  • Roll formed products are straight and the manufacture process is more consistent.

Steel Framing Disadvantages

  • Can be more expensive depending on the roof specification.

  • On-site adjustments require re- manufacture of members.

Timber framing advantages

  • Construction convention, used for years to construct roofs.

  • Prefabricated, cheap and easily available.

  • CCA treated products have extended lifetime (+- 25-year service life)

  • Aesthetically pleasing

Timber framing disadvantages

  • Prone to insect and water damage if not properly treated and maintained.

  • Timber is a natural product and waning, warping, and twisting can occur.

  • Timber is a finite resource. Non- recyclable

  • Timber is combustible and will burn when exposed to fire.

  • Raw materials cannot be stored on site for extended periods.

  • Delivery of prefabricated trusses can be difficult if spans and pitch exceed truck and trailer dimensions.
